New Training Providers

Program Certification Policy

Potential Training Providers must meet the following criteria:

  • Be approved or accredited under an existing process such as that offered by a post-secondary accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Illinois Community College Board, the Illinois State Board of Education, or the USDOL Office of Apprenticeship.  If the provider does not meet one of the above criteria for accreditation but the program for which the certification is being sought has been recognized by the industry as meeting the standards necessary for approval or accreditation, when such standards exist, the training provider may be deemed eligible.
  • If there are national or state certification requirements to obtain certification or licensure for an occupation.  The program provider must meet all national/state requirements.
  • Must be open for business for at least 12 months prior to seeking certification to provide WIA training services.
  • The training provider's program is intended to lead to placement in a demand occupation as identified on the Demand Occupation Training List for Economic Development Region #4.  Occupations associated with a training program can only be approved if it appears on the Demand Occupation Training List
  • Program providers must complete all required local forms and documentation for certification.
  • Application must be submitted electronically.  No hand written applications will be accepted. 

 

Steps to Applying to the Will County Workforce Investment Board:

1. Fill out the Application for New Training Providers form and email to gtuminello@willcountyillinois.com.

2. Once the application is received, the applicant will be provided with a username and password for the Illinois Workforce Development System (IWDS).  Provider and program information must be entered into IWDS by the applicant.

3. Once provider and program information is entered into IWDS, programs will be submitted to the Workforce Investment Board of Will County for review and 
the applicant will be notified of the outcome.
