Purpose

The Workforce Investment Board of Will County plays a role in the economic development of our County.  It brings together a myriad of employment, training, and educational services and transforms them into a comprehensive and easily accessed system that supports the development of a world-class workforce.  Our activities support industry-based workforce development strategies, labor market analysis, community planning, focused economic development efforts, collaborative partnerships with education and training providers, and improvement of the economic vitality of the County. 

Regional Collaboration

The Workforce Investment Board of Will County is involved in a consortium of nine workforce boards in the Chicago metropolitan region.  The nine boards focus on regional initiatives aimed at supporting business, community, and the region's economic growth and vitality.  For example, the Boards have sponsored industry summits in healthcare, manufacturing, and logistics/distribution to develop collaborative actions to solve priority workforce issues and develop collaborative actions to solve priority workforce issues and to build coalitions to implement solutions to these workforce issues .  Through this regional collaboration, the Workforce Boards are building system Change strategies to ensure that the education and workforce system are aligned with the skills that businesses need in their workforce and to ensure the continued economic strength of the region.
